Determination of Financial Aid

A student's financial aid package is determined by the individual's amount of "financial need" calculated using the following formula:

COA (Cost of Attendance) - EFC (Expected Family Contribution) = Financial Need

Cost of Attendance (COA) includes standard allowances for tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation, technology, and miscellaneous expenses. Students are provided with their annual calculated cost of attendance upon request

A student's annual cost of attendance will also vary based upon their housing status (with or without parents) as well as their dependency status

Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is based on income, assets, expenses, size of family, number of working parents, number of students in college, and extraordinary circumstances.

The "financial need" or "unmet need" is the maximum amount a student can receive in state and federal financial aid funds.

A combination of the following programs may be available to assist in paying for your education:

  • Federal Pell Grant
  • State Grants (A+, Access Missouri, etc)
  • Federal Direct Student Loans
  • Federal Direct Parent Loans
